It's a thing, trust me. The Caimito, as we know it, also known as Star Apple, Caimito, Purple Star Apple, Abiaba, Pomme de Lait, Milk Fruit, and many more. What's going on with all these fruits with multiple names? The Caimito is a relative of the Mamey, Sapote. The caimito, AKA the star apple, is a delicious tropical fruit native to Central and South America. It's named for the star-like shape of its cross-section magically revealed when the fruit is cut in half. The fruit's skin ranges from green to purple, and the flesh is soft and creamy, with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. Caimito trees are medium-sized and can grow up to 50 feet tall. We have Pomarosa also known as Wax Jambu, Java Apple, and Rose apple. This is a limited batch of this delicious Asian delicacy. The Wax Jambu has a refreshingly floral, not-so-sweet flavor. The skin is waxy, but the flesh is apple-like white with a juicy, crunchy, and crispy bite. Wax Jambu is a pear-shaped fruit with waxy skin and crispy flesh similar to the Malay apple. The Wax Apple is native to the Philippines, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Other names include love apple, java apple, and bell fruit, water apple, mountain apple, and rose apple. The fruit is bell-shaped edible, with colors ranging from white, pale green, green, red, purple, crimson, to deep purple or even black, 4-6 cm long in wild plants. When mature, the tree is considered a heavy bearer and can yield a crop of up to 700 fruits. Wax Jambu fruits are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, making them good for maintaining health and preventing diseases.
