The Jake Hoback Knives brand has been a name many of you have known and trusted for over two decades. We've been incredibly blessed by your amazing support, which has allowed us to innovate and push boundaries within the EDC industry in ways we never thought possible. It's been an incredible journey with many ups and downs, and we've cherished every moment.

Now, we're excited to announce we’re taking things to the next level.

Unifying Our Vision: Jake Hoback Knives & Hoback Customs Become One

Many of you may not know that the "Jake Hoback Knives" brand (focused on our production models) and the "Hoback Customs" brand (for all custom tools) have operated as two distinct entities from the very beginning. This separation was primarily for backend business logistics and to manage different financial models – so it wasn't something we often highlighted publicly.

A few years ago, I (Jake Hoback) was fortunate enough to bring both companies under my sole control. Now, the time is right to consolidate these two into a single, unified Hoback brand. This will create a clearer vision for what our brand represents, what we do, and how we can best serve you.

Our Strategic Path Forward:

We've been working on this transition methodically. Here are the key steps we’ve taken and are continuing to implement:

Bringing Manufacturing Home: All manufacturing is now under my direct control and proudly based in the USA. (Completed, 2022)

Direct to You, Our Customer: We've transitioned to selling directly to you, the end customer. (Completed, 2022)

Website Consolidation: We are in the process of merging our online presence. (In progress, 2022-2025)

Ramping Up Production: We are actively working on increasing our production capabilities. (In progress, 2022-2025)

Refining Our Product Line: We're consolidating our offerings to focus on flagship models and streamline our extensive product line, ensuring every piece meets our highest standards. (Ongoing)

We have immense respect for our EDC dealers and wholesale partners. They’ve done an amazing job supporting our brand and continue to do so with the inventory they hold. Our decision to move to a direct-to-customer model was driven by a desire to foster a closer relationship with you, our end users. This allows us to have more complete control over how the Hoback brand is represented and ensure the information you receive is accurate and direct from the source. We now hold the keys to directly answer your questions and support you through your entire experience with our products.

Why Retire the Jake Hoback Knives Website After 22 Years?

That’s a fair question! The decision wasn't taken lightly. Over the years, the "Jake Hoback Knives" brand, often associated with "evil knives" (as some platforms see them!), has faced significant headwinds: shadow banning on social media, outright Facebook bans (our page has been a zombie for 6 years – we can't even delete it!), payment processors (yes, PayPal, we're looking at you!) closing our accounts, and even Shopify giving us a hard time.

Frankly, it's become easier for us to channel our energy into a unified brand under a new banner than to constantly fight these uphill battles. This move allows us to sidestep these frustrations and focus on what we do best: designing and building exceptional knives for you.

The Future is Bright (and Sharp!)

Going forward, all our energy, innovation, and new releases will be showcased under the Hoback Customs brand. Get ready for a new website experience and a revitalized presence (including a new Facebook page!) that we believe will blow your mind.
