Farm stays under canvas

We had a great time with our grandchildren, they loved looking after the chickens, visiting the ponies in the barn and playing on the go carts in the farm yard. We explored the farm and local area on bikes and enjoyed pizza evening when our hosts Hannah and Phil cooked pizzas for guests in an outdoor pizza oven. Having no electricity and internet made a fun change for a few days. The children enjoyed a level of freedom they don’t get to experience living in the city. The only downside was the shower in the tent, it was freezing! We were lucky that the weather was so hot, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to use it. We did manage to get it to luke warm once or twice but not for long!

When we arrived at Mount Pleasant Farm Anna greeted us with a much needed cup of tea and said we could drive down to unload our car into the tent which was great ! It's always a bit tiring using the wheelbarrows after a long car trip ! The tent was clean with the added bonus of an en-suite shower room which provided plenty of hot water and a fab view ! The tents were all set out with plenty of distance apart so we could really relax. There was plenty for the kids to do which was an added bonus for us. The duvets in the tent were the thickest we've ever experienced, this is our sixth FeatherDown Farm trip, so we are good judges ! The honesty shop was well stocked with the option of freshly baked bread every morning delivered to our tent by helping hands. The farm tour was good with a good range of animals to look at and the 'Pat a Pony' was very well received by my daughter, who loves Ponies !! This is an excellent farm with every attention to detail thought out an would thoroughly recommend it ! Anna & Mike work very hard to look after everyone and are always around for a chin wag about the animals on their farm they love so much.

From start to finish this was a magical weekend. We had the warmest welcome on arrival from the owners and Jess the dog and from there on in nothing was too much trouble. The farm walk at sunset, feeding the lambs, collecting eggs each morning and soaking up the stunning views in the hot tub kept our two boys happily entertained and all four of us smiling. And we are still smiling now back home full of happy memories which will keep us going until the next visit!

We were looking for something different, this definitely ticked the box. Good accommodation. Especially liked the layout of the living area, and what an experience cooking, not to be missed! Plenty of safe open space with lots of different walks. Good pubs locally with excellent food. Will and Anna were excellent hosts, they could not of done more.

Thank you to Lucy and Marcus for another wonderful stay at College Farm. We hadn’t been since the pandemic and were delighted to find that the hospitality was as warm, the farm setting as peaceful, and the tents as immaculately kept as ever before- it was the perfect family escape, miles from care and truly restoring and relaxing. Just what we all needed. And we loved the innovation of the eco bricks for the wood burning stove- much easier to get going, cleaner and more environmentally friendly than the usual logs. Can’t wait to return again!

This was our third visit to College Farm and a much needed break for both adults and children from our own four walls, screens and devices! The children were outside with newly made friends all weekend. Lucy and Marcus are lovely hosts and the weekend was just what we all needed.

Ellie is an amazing host who genuinely cares about your experience, and is eager to ensure that any niggles are corrected. The hot tub was more work than expected, but worth the soak with a view! We were dubious about this break as we'd had a not-great experience with a different location, but this was far superior in every single way. There were so many thoughtful touches that made life just a little easier (eg, ice packs in the bothy). Best bit: being in a fantastic setting, so relaxing to be surrounded by nature. The worst bit: the indoor stove could be better (we followed the instructions but still struggled to keep it alight and burning enough to be useful, which might have been more annoying if we were staying longer, or the weather was worse and so unable to use the outdoor stove instead).

Our fourth Featherdown Farm experience did not let us down. First time travelling abroad. . The additional shower element was fabulous. The cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, duck, pigs, guinea pigs, the shy dog and friendly cat Noisette were all entertaining. Not forgetting Gypsie the pot belly pig! We saw the traditional pizza/bread oven and looked forward to that experience but it never came and due to language barrier couldn't find out why which was a shame.
